In The Name Of Allah
The Beneficent The Merciful
For years, Muslims in Thamesmead struggled to find a nearby mosque for daily prayers and community connection. With most mosques located in East London, attending regularly meant long drives and limited accessibility. While the Greenwich Islamic Centre served as a temporary option, distance and parking made it difficult for many.
Recognising the need for a local prayer space, we came together as a community—praying in car parks, meeting in homes, and reaching out to one another with a shared vision. With support from key individuals, including Saifur Rahman and Councillor Zainab, we secured the Birchmere Community Hub and began holding weekly Jumu’ah and Sunday gatherings.
Now registered as Thamesmead Islamic Centre CIC, our goal is clear: to establish a permanent mosque in Thamesmead that supports worship, education, and unity for future generations.
Our Vision
To build a self-sustaining Islamic centre where worship, learning, and community care thrive—supported by the ongoing generosity of believers seeking reward from Allah ﷻ in both this life and the hereafter.
Our Mission
To serve the Muslim community by maintaining the house of Allah ﷻ, supporting Islamic education, and funding essential services through sincere and transparent donations. Every contribution is a trust, and we aim to use it in ways that benefit both the Deen and the wider community.
