Du’a (supplication) is the soul of our relationship with Allah. It’s a heartfelt conversation in which we pour out our hopes, fears, gratitude, and needs directly to the One who always listens. The beauty of du’a is that it isn’t confined to specific times or places; we can talk to Allah anytime, anywhere.
When life gets overwhelming or our hearts feel heavy, du’a reminds us we are never alone. Allah invites us to call on Him, promising in the Qur’an, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” (Quran 40:60).

Du’a for Ease in Difficult Times
اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا
Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja’altahu sahlan
Translation: “O Allah, there is nothing easy except what You make easy.”
When life feels overwhelming and you’re facing a tough challenge, recite this profound yet straightforward du’a. It acknowledges a fundamental truth: only Allah can make our trials easy.
Du’a for Ease in Difficult Times
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي
Transliteration: Rabbi ishrah li sadri
Translation: “My Lord, expand my chest.
This short du’a, which translates literally as “My Lord, open up my chest,” is a Quranic supplication of Prophet Moses (Musa) ﷺ when he was tasked with a difficult mission. “Rabbi ishrah li sadri” is a plea for Allah to comfort one’s heart and give inner confidence.
Du’a for Forgiveness
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي
Transliteration: Rabbi ighfir li
Translation: “My Lord, forgive me.”
Sometimes the most powerful du’as are the simplest. “Rabbi ighfir li” is only two words in Arabic, yet it carries the weight of a heartfelt apology and a desperate hope for Allah’s mercy. It means “My Lord, forgive me,” and we need to say this regularly.
Du’a for Needs and Provision
رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
Transliteration: Rabbi inni limā anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqīr
Translation: “My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You send down to me.”
This heartfelt du’a was spoken by Prophet Moses ﷺ during a time of utter need and uncertainty (Quran 28:24). He had fled his home with nothing and found himself alone in a strange land, tired and hungry by a well. In that moment, he turned to Allah with these words, admitting his complete dependence on His Lord’s generosity.

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي
Transliteration: Allahumma ihdini wa saddidni
Translation: “O Allah, guide me and make me steadfast.”
